Rhosneigr Walk - surfers' paradise on the beautiful Anglesey coast

A lovely scenic walk, around 5 miles long, but all on one level, half of it along the coastline, the other half inland.

It's a great walk with dogs if you've got one or more of them.

Best starting point is from the free car park along the A4080 between Aberffraw and Llanfaelog where you turn left out of the car park, walk along the road until you get to 'Penlon Cottage' where the public footpath takes you over a ladder stile into a field. Here walk through the field to the left and continue right at the end where the footpath takes you across the next field towards another ladder stile where there is a bungalow to the right. Turn right and walk to the road where another right turn takes you over the bridge, another road, which you cross, turning left down an access road.

You'll walk along a row of houses and just before the last house, the footpath continues on the left following the shore of Llyn Maelog, crossing a footbridge and continuing along the edge of the lake until the boardwalk takes you to another road, which leads you into Rhosneigr village centre, when you turn left and keep bearing left at any forks and until you get to the beach – Traeth Llydan. There are lots of nice cafes and bistros around if you fancy a little refuelling stop?

Walk left along the beach and continue on this beautiful sandy scenery past a rocky cove before rejoining the coastal footpath leading you around Mynydd Mawr headland.

Enjoy the views towards the Llyn Peninsula in the far background.

Continuing on this path around Porth Trecastell where you walk through the car park there and then after around 300m follow the coastal footpath on the left

of a small car park. Just before the beach there is a fork in the path where you keep to the right (there is a small white cottage) following the path along the top of the dunes back to your car.

I really like this walk any time of the year as you can see how the landscape changes. Go and try it out!
